Louisiana’s Missing Coast
10 Minute Film || Interactive Website || Digital Exhibition
Louisiana loses a football field of land every 100 minutes. As the impacts of sea level rise and increasingly powerful hurricanes converge, communities of Native Americans are once again being pushed off of their land. This short film (below) and accompanying web interactive (works best on Chrome) explore the impacts of land loss on those living along Louisiana’s coast.
This project was funded in part by the Center for Documentary Studies’ John Hope Franklin Student Documentary Award. I received mentoring from Ryan White through the Studio Duke Mentorship Program. I was accompanied by Sierra Cleveland who provided additional cinematography and logistical support.
This project was the winner of the 2020 Koonz Human Rights Prize and a Finalist for the 2020 Student Academy Awards.
